Re: Up The Rovers!

I hate the AEB (autonomous emergency braking) system idea for the very reason you've experienced. Anything that wrestles control from the driver to that extent is a recipe for disaster if it goes wrong. I wouldn't by a car with that feature unless is can be turned off. I don't mind ABS and even ESP ...

Re: MG Motor UK (end of an era?)

Great story and I think that sums up why people have an attachment which still exists today to MG and Rover products and the Longbridge site. There is definitely still so much genuine passion about these brands than any other I can think of that still has an operation in the UK when you see how well...

Re: MG Motor UK (end of an era?)

I never associated that company with the old brand. Just using a tired old factory to build a sub standard uninspired product. I feel for those who will loose there jobs but it isn't a surprise. It seems to be one of many large multinational businesses sheding people in this country at the moment. ...

MG Motor UK (end of an era?)

Not a lot of press coverage on this but: https://www.aronline.co.uk/news/news-redundancies-announced-at-longbridge-technical-centre./ Probably inevitable but I can't help feeling it's a shame and obviously very unfortunate for the staff at Longbridge. Even though they're maybe not the best cars, I e...

I don't think she mentioned in her email. It's currently still registered to the car from a quick check.

Re: Flipping cars

Not sure if that's a general comment or aimed at me but in this case I didn't want it - Im just curious to watch what's being sold and for how much in my area. Not complaining about someone making a (modest) profit on a car but hiding faults is not on in my book. Obviously its buyer beware but I'm s...

Flipping cars

It's crazy how much this goes on now... And by flipping cars I mean them being bought and sold straight away (usually with with known faults hidden) for profit. Case in point a tired old MGB GT was up for sale round my way recently. Really only good as a basis for a restoration. Owner struggled to s...

St. Georges Day Run in Sheringham

Once I get more details I'll post this up and a link in the East of England events section. On 28th April North Norfolk Classic Vehicle Club are having their annual charity run from Sheringham. In aid of the East of England Air Amblulance. Did this last year, had brilliant weather for the time of ye...

Re: Carbon engine cleaning

The walnut blasting is a method used on MINI’s that I believe most dealers can do. I’ve not seen many GDI related sticking valve problems to be fair, what car do you have? It's a 3 cylinder Peugeot 208, though I just found out in fact it's the older generation of engines that have variable valve ti...

Re: Carbon engine cleaning

Petrol in our case. Unfortunately premium fuel I don't think will make much difference to the inlet valves since as I understand it on this (and many other modern engines) uses direct fuel injection into the cylinders so the valves don't get washed in fuel like they used to. I have heard about this ...

Carbon engine cleaning

Here's a controversial topic: which methods of cleaning carbon deposits from engines actually work? I'm interested since our most modern car uses direct injection and it seems these are prone to carbon buildup on the inlet valves because they are not cleaned by the fuel that passes through from trad...
