Re: A new home for my Rovers

Week six update: Not a huge amount of progress is apparent on the garage due to the delayed arrival of the roofing materials, however work has begun on the changes to the house, particularly knocking down the old fireplace projection so that I can drive cars into the back garden to the garage. http:...

Re: A new home for my Rovers

I'm not planning on painting the floor at present, we're had a powerfloat finish on it so it shouldn't need painting. Will it not need some form of sealer on it to prevent dust? Personally I like to see a garage floor painted, makes it look more like a professional workshop imo. Powerfloat finishes,...

Re: A new home for my Rovers

Shaping up nicely Tom.Have you got a date in mind for completion? Electric's installed, floor painted etc. I'm expecting completion on all the work mid-to-late September at present, however the garage door was only ordered last week and that won't be delivered until some time in October I suspect. ...

Re: A new home for my Rovers

Thanks for the offer of help H. There may be a garage painting party in due course once everything is done and dusted, but thats a little way off just yet. Here is the update from the end of week five. http://mancave.pinneys.net/photos/garage_build_20160815-184220.jpg http://mancave.pinneys.net/phot...

Re: A new home for my Rovers

A three car across the back of the garden would also require space in front and along the side which would have taken up over half the back garden, not to mention it would have cost a lot more. While that would be the ideal solution, a wide and long double was the best compromise. Swapping the cars ...

http://mancave.pinneys.net/photos/garage_build_20160802-185006.jpg Are your new tenants checking out their new abode ? It's going up quickly now, roof started by next week ? It took me 3 months to get to that stage. Had you not heard, the jungle at Calais has moved here?!?! :P They'll be making a s...

Re: A new home for my Rovers

A slightly delayed week three update. We had a right mare on Tuesday getting the concrete poured for the slab; the one day we could have done without rain, it absolutely chucked it down just at the wrong moment :( Hopefully the slab is okay, but I won't know until they finish the walls because its c...

Re: A new home for my Rovers

If you build something this big anywhere in the UK you'll need building regs.

A normal single or double garage under 30m2 will be exempt from building regs, under most conditions, but this is nearer 40m2 so it does need to comply with building regs.

I do like a good garage build thread 8) . Looking good so far Tom, how long do you think it'll take ? However long it is, add in a few months, mine took 7 months of weekends and a few midweek days with mainly 1 or 2 of us working on it and theres still a few things I want done. It does, but I think that may be because the drawing is an isometric view where as the photo is a perspective view.

I have checked the measurements and it's the right size and in the right place - I don't want any issues with building control or planning!

A new home for my Rovers

Its finally started, my garage build is at long last underway. Since the start of this year I have been designing the garage and then seeking planning and building regs approval which culminated in the build starting on Monday. This is what we hope the garage will look like when its complete http://...

That's sad news H. I think the last time I saw him was possibly at one of the P6 national days. He took some really nice photos of my car on a number of occassions.

I think I'm going to be in Devon that weekend but if not I might swing by.

Is it a series one or two car Martin?
