See this issue too often.

Not too much of a problem to fix, it's just sourcing a replacement hot side for the turbo.

Best to buy a brand new replacement as finding a second hand item without cracks is difficult.

What turbo is that from?

Hi James
Its the standard Garrett T25 housing, I believe the same housing is used for T28.
Hoping to get it sorted for this weekend's race... keep you all informed.

Oh no Dave. That explains the phone call. Your not having the best of luck. If you make it on Saturday it feels like we need to bring a complete spares car!

Okay, I have the turbo back :D

My old wastegate housing was different - it was a 6.4 housing, as opposed to a 4.9 housing. I know Universal turbos made a hybrid, so was expecting some differences, however TT convinced me to go with the 4.9 (as it should spool quicker), particularly as I'd said I don't want more than 250bhp. Anyway - and I can always swap back to 6.4 later if I want. They also commented on a few other bits, but notably replaced the 360 bearing with a more robust 360 bearing and replaced damaged vanes, etc.
Impressed with their quick turnaround given they only got it last thing Monday, in order to get me testing tomorrow... just hope all is well.

Good stuff Dave. Looking forward to the race on Saturday and happy to be a pit monkey if you need one.

yes the 0.49 housing spools quicker thats the stock t25 size iirc. but ur lose the top end grunt at about 5 k it will run out of pushing power . its why people went for 0.64 and is gives u the power all the way to the limiter . and lets be honest u ever spend time below 3 k in a race ...... proberbly not . ill see u saturdsy hopefully

Unfortunately, getting hold of a .64 in time was an issue. I noticed the quick spool up coming out of pits though (as did James), so hopefully this may help with standing start. We didn't notice running out of power at 5k, but the turbo is definitely more "peaky" than before, may try going back to .64 in future, but hey at least its working!
