Rover Coupe Owners Club Event Report
Brooklands Best of British 2026
Monday 25th May 2026

The Rover Coupe Owners Club enjoyed an excellent day out at Brooklands Museum's annual Best of British event on Monday 25th May, with no fewer than nine Rover 200 Coupés attending and proudly representing the club.

Members began gathering from 08:15 at Cobham Services, where breakfast, coffee and plenty of conversation provided the perfect start to the day. As always, the convoy itself proved to be one of the highlights, with the Coupés making an impressive sight as they travelled together to Brooklands before arriving in formation to take their place on the showground.

The Best of British event celebrates the very best of Britain's motoring heritage and attracts a huge variety of vehicles from across the decades. This year's show featured hundreds of classic and modern British cars, motorcycles and commercial vehicles displayed throughout the historic Brooklands site. Visitors were able to explore the museum's renowned collections, including the aircraft exhibits, racing cars, buses, and the famous Brooklands banking, all while enjoying a packed programme of displays and entertainment.

The RCOC stand quickly attracted interest throughout the day, with visitors stopping to admire the line-up and chat with owners about the increasingly rare Rover Coupés. The variety of cars on display showcased the model well and highlighted the dedication of club members in preserving these distinctive examples of British motoring.

Weather conditions were kind throughout the day, allowing members ample opportunity to wander the site, visit other club displays, browse trade stands and catch up with fellow enthusiasts. Brooklands always provides a unique backdrop for a car show, and the combination of historic surroundings, excellent exhibits and a relaxed atmosphere ensured there was plenty to see and do for everyone attending.

One particularly pleasing aspect of the day was the positive response from members of the public, many of whom shared memories of owning or travelling in Rover vehicles. Events such as these demonstrate just how much affection still exists for the marque and reinforce the importance of keeping these cars visible at major national shows.

On behalf of the Rover Coupe Owners Club, I would like to thank everyone who attended, displayed their cars, and helped make the day such a success. The turnout of nine Coupés was a fantastic achievement and provided a strong club presence amongst a wide range of British marques.

Overall, Brooklands Best of British 2026 proved to be a thoroughly enjoyable event, with great company, great cars and a wonderful venue. Judging by the smiles throughout the day and the conversations that continued long after the event had finished, it is safe to say that a great day was had by all.

Pride of Longbridge 2026 - Saturday 18th April 2026

Post by Fathercarl166 »

Rover Coupe Owners Club Event Report
Pride of Longbridge 2026
Saturday 18th April 2026

The Rover Coupe Owners Club enjoyed another outstanding event on Saturday 18th April as members gathered at Cofton Park, Birmingham, for the annual Pride of Longbridge celebration.

Held just a stone's throw from the former Longbridge factory, the event remains one of the most important dates in the calendar for enthusiasts of the Rover, Austin, MG and British Leyland marques. It is a unique opportunity to celebrate the vehicles designed and built at Longbridge while remembering the thousands of people whose skill and dedication made the factory one of Britain's great automotive landmarks.

The club was delighted to field what is believed to be one of the largest gatherings of Rover 200 Coupés seen in recent years. A remarkable 26 Coupés were displayed together on the RCOC stand, with at least one further example located elsewhere on the showground, and reports suggesting there may even have been a 28th in attendance earlier in the day.

To put that achievement into perspective, excluding the two visiting overseas cars from the Netherlands and Germany, the club displayed approximately 10% of every Rover 200 Coupé still taxed and registered in the United Kingdom at the end of 2025—a truly remarkable statistic that demonstrates both the enthusiasm of the owners and the continuing strength of the Rover Coupe Owners Club.

The display itself was an excellent showcase of the model's diversity. Among the 27 cars recorded were nine Series 2 Coupés, including five desirable VVC models, alongside four K-Series 1.6-litre cars, one of which was an exceptionally early May 1996 'N' registration believed to be amongst the earliest surviving examples. Another rare highlight was a CVT automatic model, seldom seen today.

The remaining cars demonstrated the full breadth of the Coupé range, including three Honda-powered 216 models—two fitted with the optional boot spoiler—and two naturally aspirated 220 models, all helping to illustrate the evolution of the Rover Coupé throughout its production life.

Colour variety was equally impressive, creating one of the most eye-catching displays of the entire event. Nightfire Red once again proved the most popular colour with eight examples proudly representing "Team Pearlescent Red", followed by six Tahiti Blue, four Flame Red, three Polynesian Turquoise, two Charcoal, and single examples finished in Amaranth, Anthracite, British Racing Green and Platinum Silver. The colourful line-up attracted constant attention from visitors throughout the day and provided countless opportunities for photographs.

The display also highlighted some of the more subtle variations, with three cars fitted with the distinctive rear window spoiler and numerous examples showcasing the different engine, trim and specification combinations available throughout production.

As always, Pride of Longbridge offered far more than simply a car show. Hundreds of vehicles representing every era of Longbridge production filled Cofton Park, from early Austin and Morris models through to MG-Rover. Trade stands, owners' clubs, memorabilia displays and the opportunity to meet former Longbridge employees created a warm and nostalgic atmosphere that makes this event unlike any other in the classic car calendar.

Throughout the day the Rover Coupe Owners Club stand was busy with visitors, many of whom shared memories of owning a Coupé themselves or expressed surprise at how few remain on Britain's roads today. The standard of preparation across the club display was exceptional and reflected the tremendous pride members take in preserving these increasingly rare cars.

Events such as Pride of Longbridge serve as an important reminder of the Rover Coupé's place within Britain's motoring history. Seeing so many examples together—representing a significant proportion of the surviving UK population—was a genuinely special sight and undoubtedly one of the highlights of the entire event.

On behalf of the Rover Coupe Owners Club, I would like to thank everyone who made the journey to Birmingham, whether from just down the road or from much further afield. Your enthusiasm, dedication and willingness to display your cars helped create a stand that was widely admired throughout the day and showcased the Rover Coupé exactly as it deserves to be seen.

Pride of Longbridge 2026 will undoubtedly be remembered as one of the club's most successful appearances in recent years, not only because of the exceptional turnout but because it perfectly demonstrated the strength of the RCOC community and the enduring affection for one of Rover's most distinctive modern classics.
  • Attendance: 26 Rover 200 Coupés on the club stand, with at least 27 and possibly 28 present across the event.
  • Venue: Cofton Park, Birmingham
  • Event: Pride of Longbridge 2026
  • Highlights:
    * Approximately 10% of all UK-taxed Rover 200 Coupés represented.
    * International attendance from the Netherlands and Germany.
    * Exceptional colour and model variety.
    * One of the largest known gatherings of Rover 200 Coupés in recent years.
  • Club Verdict: A landmark event for the Rover Coupe Owners Club and a fitting celebration of the Longbridge legacy. The sheer number of surviving Coupés brought together in one place made this a truly memorable day for members and visitors alike.

Practical Classics Classic Car & Restoration Show 2026 - 20th–22nd March 2026

Post by Fathercarl166 »

Rover Coupe Owners Club Event Report
Practical Classics Classic Car & Restoration Show 2026
NEC Birmingham – 20th–22nd March 2026

The Rover Coupe Owners Club once again returned to the Practical Classics Classic Car & Restoration Show at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham, over the weekend of 20th–22nd March 2026, proudly exhibiting a stand that showcased not only three exceptional Rover Coupés, but also the enthusiasm, engineering talent and camaraderie that defines our club.

The Restoration Show has become one of the highlights of the classic motoring calendar, attracting tens of thousands of visitors from across the UK. Unlike many traditional classic car shows, its emphasis is on restoration, conservation and keeping historic vehicles on the road, making it the perfect venue for the Rover Coupe Owners Club to demonstrate that our cars are not simply preserved—they are actively maintained, improved and enjoyed.

This year's stand offered visitors three very different interpretations of the Rover Coupé.

Taking centre stage was Tommy's striking race-prepared yellow Coupé, a car that drew constant attention throughout the weekend. Prepared for competition, it demonstrated the sporting pedigree hidden beneath the Rover Coupé's elegant styling and provided a fascinating talking point for visitors interested in the model's performance potential. It proved that, more than thirty years after its introduction, the Coupé continues to make an impressive motorsport platform.

Alongside it sat Connor's rare Japanese-specification blue import, displayed during an engine rebuild. With the powertrain removed and restoration work clearly visible, visitors were able to appreciate the complexity of the project and the dedication required to return these increasingly uncommon cars to their former glory. The display generated countless conversations, with many people stopping to ask questions about sourcing parts, rebuilding engines and the differences between UK and Japanese market examples.

Completing the display was an immaculate Nightfire Red Rover Coupé, presented in outstanding condition and serving as a reminder of just how elegant these cars remain when preserved as Rover originally intended. Together, the three vehicles perfectly represented the breadth of ownership within the club—from concours-standard examples, through active restoration projects, to competition-prepared cars.

Throughout the weekend the stand remained busy, with members welcoming a steady stream of visitors, many of whom shared personal memories of owning Rover vehicles or expressed surprise at how rarely Coupés are now seen on Britain's roads. The contrast between the finished road car, the restoration project and the race car proved particularly effective, demonstrating that the Rover Coupe Owners Club embraces every aspect of ownership and encourages members to preserve their cars in whatever way suits them best.

The club stand itself reflected the professionalism of the RCOC. Large photographic display boards showcased members' cars and previous events, while club banners, flags and promotional material created an inviting space where enthusiasts could stop, chat and learn more about both the Rover Coupé and the activities of the club. Over the three days, many new contacts were made and several prospective members took the opportunity to find out more about joining.

One of the great strengths of the Restoration Show is the opportunity to meet fellow enthusiasts from across the classic car community. Members were able to explore the hundreds of club displays, browse the extensive autojumble and specialist trade stands, and watch live restoration demonstrations by industry experts. Whether searching for elusive parts, discovering new restoration techniques or simply admiring the incredible variety of vehicles on display, there was something to interest everyone.

Events such as this are invaluable in ensuring that the Rover Coupé continues to enjoy the recognition it deserves within the wider classic car movement. By exhibiting cars at different stages of their journey—from restoration to competition to concours condition—the club demonstrated that these cars are not museum pieces, but living classics with an enthusiastic and knowledgeable community supporting them.

On behalf of the Rover Coupe Owners Club, I would like to thank Tommy, Connor, Paul, and everyone who contributed to building, staffing and dismantling the stand across the three days. Exhibiting at the NEC requires an enormous amount of planning and commitment, and the quality of this year's display was a credit to everyone involved. The positive feedback received throughout the weekend made all of the hard work worthwhile.

The 2026 NEC Classic Car & Restoration Show was another resounding success for the Rover Coupe Owners Club, providing an excellent opportunity to promote the marque, showcase the versatility of the Rover Coupé and demonstrate the passion that continues to keep these distinctive British cars alive for future generations.
  • Display Vehicles:
    *Tommy's race-prepared yellow Rover Coupé.
*Connor's Japanese-specification blue import displayed during engine restoration.
*Paul's immaculate Nightfire Red Rover Coupé in original road-going condition.
  • Venue: National Exhibition Centre (NEC), Birmingham
  • Event: Practical Classics Classic Car & Restoration Show 2026
  • Dates: 20th–22nd March 2026
  • Club Verdict: A superbly presented stand that celebrated every aspect of Rover Coupé ownership—restoration, preservation and motorsport. The display attracted significant interest throughout the weekend and was a fantastic advertisement for both the cars and the Rover Coupe Owners Club.

RCOC Christmas Meet 2026 - Sunday 18th January 2026

Post by Fathercarl166 »

Rover Coupe Owners Club Event Report
RCOC Christmas Meet 2026
Green Man Inn, Silverstone – Sunday 18th January 2026

The Rover Coupe Owners Club kicked off its 2026 events calendar in traditional fashion with the annual RCOC Christmas Meet, held on Sunday 18th January at the Green Man Inn, Silverstone.

As has become something of a club tradition, the Christmas gathering once again took place in January, allowing members to come together after the festive period without the usual seasonal pressures. Organised by Stace and Adam, the event promised a relaxed day of good food, great company and plenty of Rover-related conversation.

The day had originally been planned in two parts, beginning with breakfast and coffee at the Willoughby Café near Rugby before a convoy to Silverstone. Unfortunately, the British weather had other ideas, and with conditions making travel less favourable than hoped, the breakfast meet and drive were sensibly cancelled. Thankfully, the main event at the Green Man Inn went ahead as planned, ensuring members could still enjoy the club's first social gathering of the year.

As members arrived throughout the morning, the pub car park gradually filled with an impressive selection of Rover Coupés, providing the usual opportunity to catch up with friends, inspect each other's cars and discuss the winter jobs that many owners had recently completed—or were planning to tackle before the show season began. Despite the cancellation of the convoy, there was no shortage of conversation, with members travelling from across the country to attend.

Once inside, everyone enjoyed a relaxed lunch in the welcoming surroundings of the Green Man Inn. As always, the atmosphere was friendly and informal, with familiar faces reunited after the Christmas break alongside newer members attending one of their first club events. It is these occasions that continue to highlight one of the Rover Coupe Owners Club's greatest strengths—not just the cars themselves, but the friendships that have grown around them over the years.

Following lunch came one of the most eagerly anticipated traditions of the day—the annual RCOC Quiz. Covering everything from obscure Rover part numbers and motorsport history to music with automotive connections, the quiz provided plenty of entertainment, friendly rivalry and more than a few moments of head scratching. The competitive spirit was evident throughout, although, as always, the laughs proved far more important than the final scores.

Attention then turned to the annual RCOC Awards, recognising both the dedication of individual members and the cars they proudly maintain.

The coveted Spirit of the Club Award was presented in recognition of outstanding commitment and contribution throughout the previous year, celebrating the enthusiasm and willingness to support fellow members that continues to make the RCOC such a welcoming community.

Members also cast their votes for the Best Presented Coupé, with entrants showcasing immaculately prepared examples despite the challenges of a British winter. The high standard of presentation demonstrated the pride owners continue to take in preserving these increasingly rare cars.

Prize presentations rounded off the afternoon, providing a fitting conclusion to another enjoyable Christmas Meet before members gradually began the journey home.

Whilst the weather may have prevented the planned breakfast convoy, it certainly failed to dampen spirits. The event perfectly illustrated that the RCOC is about far more than simply displaying cars—it is about bringing together like-minded enthusiasts who share a passion for the Rover Coupé and enjoy each other's company as much as the vehicles themselves.

On behalf of the Rover Coupe Owners Club, sincere thanks go to Stace and Adam for organising another successful Christmas Meet. Events like these require a considerable amount of planning behind the scenes, and their efforts ensured that the day remained enjoyable despite the unavoidable changes to the original programme.

The RCOC Christmas Meet once again proved to be the ideal way to begin another exciting year of club events, setting the tone for a season that would go on to include some of the largest Rover Coupé gatherings seen in recent years.
  • Venue: Green Man Inn, Silverstone
  • Date: Sunday 18th January 2026
  • Organisers: Stace and Adam
  • Highlights:
*Annual Christmas social held in January, continuing a long-standing RCOC tradition.
*Friendly lunch bringing together members from across the country.
    *Entertaining annual RCOC Quiz.
*Presentation of the Spirit of the Club Award, Best Presented Coupé, and Quiz prizes.
*A fantastic opportunity for members to reconnect ahead of the 2026 show season.
  • Club Verdict: Although the weather forced the cancellation of the breakfast café meet and convoy, the Christmas Meet was another great success. Excellent company, plenty of laughter and the annual awards combined to provide the perfect start to the Rover Coupe Owners Club's 2026 calendar.
